Elli- koiraTurusta kävi

Strandhagenissa aiemminkin käynyt  Elli yöpyi viime yönä täällä perheensä kanssa.  Elli sopeutuu niin hyvin tänne että  Fjalar- kissa ei edes tainnut huomata että oli vieras koira paikalla kun katsoi lasioven toiselta puolelta Elliä. Huomioi miten hyvin luonnonvalkoinen turkki ja vaaleanpunaiset korvat sointuvat  Strandhagenin sisustukseen , ehkä Elli senkin takia tuntee itsensä kotoisaksi täällä   🙂

Midsummer on Strandhagen

On the island Sarfsalö they have a big gathering every Midsummer at the summer marketplace where they rise a maypole. As the weather was nice we could go there by boat as usual. It takes about 10 minutes by boat and 40 minutes by car, easy decision.Image

On Midsummer evening we were speaking finnish, english and german at Strandhagen. We were also once again happy to listen to the secret language of the germanspeaking swiss people. Fortunately the swiss german speaking people are always very nice and are happy to speak english or ordinary german, a language I try to speak myself, ”schlecht aber gern”.

Raparperi onkin taivaallinen kasvi, kaunis ja rehevä ja antaa mahdollisuuksia moneen herkkuun. Äidiltä saatu raparperimehu -resepti on tällainen:

1 kg pilkottua raparperia

1/2 kg sokeria

2-3  viipaloitua sitruuna

Kuumaa vettä päälle sen verran että kaikki peittyy, jätä vuorokaudeksi seisomaan, siivilöi ja pullota. Laimennetaan vedellä tarjoillessa. Mehu ei säily kovinkaan kauan, mutta se on harvoin ongelma.

When baking ”knäckebröd” at Strandhagen it always has the shape of our pets, dachshund and cat.

The delicious jam of apples and fresh ginger is very good and and easy to make. You´ll find the recepie here:  http://foodinjars.com/2010/01/apple-ginger-jam/

Chocolate-chip cookies with a taste of chili

200 gram butter, 4 dl brown  sugar ( sv. farin socker), 1 tsp vanilla sugar,

1 tsp salt, 2 eggs,

 6,5 dl rolled oats, 2,5 dl flour, 1 tsp bicarbonate, 350 gram chocolate

and 0,5 tsp chiliflakes if you like the combination af chocolate and chili.

Bake in 180 degrees for 8 minutes.

I have lost the list where I had written down all the different nationalities our guests during the years have had.After only a few weeks I can write down on my new list for the season:Italian, French, Swiss, Chinese, Russian and  Finnish.

A new season and a new Strandhagen website!

This summer it will be 10 years since Strandhagen B&B opened the doors for the first guests. This is hard to believe, but time flies when having fun. We have had so many nice and interesting guests here during the years, and still enjoy meeting new ones and old guests that have become our friends.

Since a couple of weeks ago Strandhagen is welcoming guests again for the summerseason. No big changes has happened in the house but  since yesterday we have this new homepage that we are proud of. A big thanks to my nephew Emil who has learned me so much and created it togehther with me!
